INTRODUCTION
Schiff bases are the compounds containing azomethine groups (C=N) and are obtained by simple condensation process.
Primary aryl amines react with aldehyde and ketones in a manner similar to that of the primary aliphatic amines, giving condensation products. Schiff bases are readily hydrolyzed by aqueous acids to give back the amines and aldehydes. They are also reduced and may be used in the preparation of secondary amines..
